The Pirates of Caribbean 4 in 4D

AMAZING!!
It was the first 4D movie in my life!

The contents of the movie itself was very good, but it is hard to illustrate it here because it would be regarded as a spoiler.

To talk about the 4D, the chair was moving, air and water came out all of the sudden, and the back of my chair and under the chair slightly hit me when the movie character fell or hit the wall. Quite strange feeling at first. However, enjoyable !!
Except the fact that it is way too expensive, sometimes it would worth it!

One night and one night only! English Education PUB!

TIRED! but it was memorable.

All freshmen worked hard and achieved successful one night pub.
We had only two days to prepare this project. Its purpose was to earn money during school festival for buying our department jacket. I was at the team of advertising and maintaining. I had to go to Kims Mart twice and had to serve around tables from time to time.
We had 50 tables, and it was really HEAVY. Lifting them and moving them around back and forth is still the cause of my shoulder-ache, both of them. My boyfriend and his friends came by, and I was so happy that they visited. They stayed until 11 pm, and it was grateful. Professor 구희산 and 김혜영 also visited our pub. It was surprising to have our professors. Everyone was so busy making dishes and serving our guests. I stayed until 4 am and slept at Kyungsoo's place. I had to take Thursday lectures.

My body was filled with tiredness but at the same time, I was proud of myself and my colleagues.

Princess Beatrice's 'Toilet Seat' Hat Sells for Over $130,000

It was the most talked about accessory at last month's royal wedding. And no, NewsFeed isn't referring to Pippa Middleton's derriere.
The infamous hat worn by Princess Beatrice at her cousin Prince William and Kate Middleton's royal nuptials has been sold on eBay for $131,648 Sunday night. With 40 bidders pining for the iconic mad hat, all the money raised is to be donated to UNICEF UK and Children In Crisis. "I've been amazed by the amount of attention the hat has attracted. It's wonderful opportunity to raise as much money as possible for two fantastic charities," said Princess Beatrice.

The "lucky" eBay bidder who won the auction of Irish designer Philip Treacey's creation still remains anonymous. Treacy told Reuters he was "delighted, flattered and touched by HRH Princess' Beatrice's decision to donate the hat to charity."
Who knew a hat in the shape of a toilet seat could garner so much money for a good cause?

May 20, MT

Almost all of our department freshmen gathered and headed to Ullwangli. It was a long way and I was tired even before playing games and stuff. The luggages were heavy, but it was worth it! We happily grilled meat and finished our dinner. Before dinner, we planned to run at the beach and give prizes and funny punishments. However, it started to rain so we finished our game inside and ate with enthusiasm. After that, we started Jurumarble. It was aimed for making everybody drink and loosen up. At the same time, Jaehyung, Hyoeun and I prepared a surprising cake for Sieon's birthday. The birthday is May 22, but it was the only chance to throw him a surprise party. We acted as if we were fighting and having a serious argument. All the freshmen were fooled, but they were also happy for Sieon's birthday. It was a big success!
We did other games - subject, verb and object - and at 2 am, Jaehyung, Gihoon, Sieon and I went out for a walk. The beach filled with thick fog was BEAUTIFUL. All of a sudden, Sieon and I were walking. We walked for an hour and half, and got lost! Jisaang came down to take us back, and most of us did not sleep. We drawed sunflowers and dragons on friends who were sleeping. It was great MT.

Discussion plan for May 25

    1. Do you think "teaching English through English" is necessary in public school English class?

pros and cons of teaching English through English
- pros
1. exposed to English
2. better learning through slight tension and stress (+ concentration)
3. listening & speaking skills
4. via homework, reading & writing skills
5. reduces the cost of private education
6. helps understanding of target language culture

-cons
1. inefficient lecture and outcome (in terms of delivery as well)
2. misunderstanding (miscommunication)
3. limited expression
4. lowers motivation & interest in English, heightens anxiety
5. left-out students increase

good solution : Let Students choose the classes - 50% TEE, 100% TEE...

    2. Which English teachers do you think is better for our students, native speakers of English or Korean English teachers? Why?

- for native speakers of English (NES)
1. natural approach and fluency
2. ability to address contents about cultural differences with examples (provide better input)
3. pronunciation and intonation
4. better in explaining English terms or expressions - overcoming the unnatural translation

- for Korean English teachers (NNES)
1. bilingual - help students' understanding by elaborating in Korean
2. address emotions and cultural background of Korean (teach two cultures)
3. capable of understanding the difficulty that students face
4. teach English in Korean way
5. give more comfort
6. better in teaching grammar

    3. How do you think will our English class be changed in the future? How do you (as 사범대생) prepare for future English education in Korea?

Journal : SALB

  • Talk about developing your self-access learning blog. What functions and resources are you interested in?
My self-access learning blog is mostly about my daily life. It is filled with my diary and my personal thoughts. I am planning to fill my blog with cartoons that indicate the controversial issues and short comments about the recent incidents. I will upload the video clips and my favorite songs in the future to stimulate friendliness to English and fully exploit my SALB.
  • What barriers do you perceive? What do you attempt to especially emphasize in designing your SALB?
I plan to specialize in interesting sources of English. In order to learn English without losing interest, I need to design my SALB with cartoons, comic strips, music and so on.
  • Write and submit the details of your SALB plan on your blog. Your plan should include:
    • Purpose
    • Organizations (subcategories)
    • List of Links in each category
    • Planning (how to use it)
The purpose of my SALB is providing sources for English learning for other people and myself. As a part of self-developing course in my University life, I need to exploit and fully utilize my blog.
I will have categories of movie reviews, diary, music, video and my personal thoughts such as poetry.
And I think I explained enough on the above about the utilization.

Sunny

I watched a movie named Sunny. The movie is about seven friends who were at the same class in highschool. There are Nami, Chunhwa, Jangmi, Jinhee, Gumok, Bokhee and Suji. These seven girls created a group and named it 'Sunny'. They hang out together, and they share everything. They travel to a countryside, practice dancing and they make memories. However, 'Sunny' continuously gets involved in conflicts. There was a conflict with classmate Sangmi and the 'Sunny' leader, Chunhwa. Also, 'Sunny' members keep the tension between the rival team, 'Girls' Generation'. After 25 years, these 'Sunny' members get together because of Chunhwa's cancer. Her last wish was to meet her friends again.
I laughed a lot and cried a lot when Chunhwa finally died due to cancer. I had little expectation on the movie but it was really satisfactory.

Journal - Cyworld : Strengths and Weaknesses

What I like about Cyworld is that it can link people and make them become more friendly. Since it can share pictures, music, memories and footprints, it strenghthens the tie among friends and aquintances. For example, in my department, there are many people who enjoy Cyworld and upload theirs almost everyday. We share their diaries and daily lives. We also leave comments about the pictures. From those memories, Jisaang got his nickname, JobBbob.
On the other hand, this advantage of Cyworld also leaves friends who do not enjoy Cyworld outside of the sympathy. Those who have not visited friends' Cyworld and saw the pictures cannot share the emotions among their peers. And sometimes, this relationship online can be pretended and acted out, so some people do not want to engage deeply into Cyworld friends or other matters related.
